SOC ANALYST PROJECTS

10 real projects, step by step.

Everything you need to land a Tier 1 SOC role, built as ten hands-on projects instead of slides. It starts with the home lab you need first, moves through beginner alert work, and ends with the medium-difficulty investigations that get you interview-ready.

Each project is being built and filmed one at a time, with the real steps, real screenshots, and the real problems that come up along the way. It's not a generic walkthrough. New projects go live as they're finished.

How this track is ordered: foundation first (your own lab), then beginner, then easy to medium, then medium projects. It's the same order Tier 1 SOC analysts actually pick these skills up on the job.

BEFORE PROJECT 1

What to know before you start

Before you start Project 1, here's what beginners usually ask, and exactly what your setup needs to look like, so nothing stalls you halfway through.

Questions Beginners Ask

Do I need a technical background to start this class?

Not really. This track is built to take you from the ground up, one project at a time. A little hands-on tech experience helps. So does finishing Security+ first. Neither one is required to begin.

What certification do I need to land a job?

Security+. It's the certification employers actually look for on a Tier 1 SOC resume, and it's the foundation this whole project track is built on.

Requirements to Start This Class

Please review the requirements below before you start. It matters for your success.

1

A Computer

Any modern laptop or desktop works. You don't need new hardware to start this track.

RAM: 16GB minimum Free storage: 150GB (50GB per VM) OS: doesn't need to be the latest version
2

A Steady Internet Connection

Some projects need large downloads, sometimes 3 to 5GB at once, for ISOs, datasets, and tool installs. A weak connection will slow you down before you even start.

3

A Steady Power Supply

You'll run two virtual machines at once. That works your computer hard. It runs hot and drains your battery fast. Stay plugged in.

4

Patience

This won't go smoothly every time. Expect to sit with a problem for hours before it clicks. That struggle is part of how the skill actually sticks.
